The Mid-South Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association is providing a free service by  taking care consultation  into the field and scheduling appointments the fourth Friday of each month between 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. at The Martin Center.  Please call  Diane Gramann, Middle Tennessee Area Program Director at 292-4938 ext 15 for an appointment.

Citizens Fire Academy at Martin Center

6 Week Series begins September 24, 9:30 - 11:30
The purpose of the Citizens Fire Academy is to increase public awareness by familiarization and information.  Through education, demonstration and participation, the citizens will better understand who, what, where, when, how and why we do the things we do.  The Citizens Fire Academy is an educational course that will aid participants in assisting their families and community in times of emergencies.
Guest speakers will include various divisions such as the Fire Chief's office, the Fire Marshal's office and the Office of Emerrgency Management.

Martin Center to Partner with ACC/SEC Council for Blood Drive

Thursday, August 14 from Noon to 6:00p.m.
The Virginia Tech for Life Blood Drive was established this year to honor the victims of the April 16, 2007 tragedy by continuing their commitment to community service. The Middle Tennessee Chapter of the  Virginia Tech Alumni Association is thrilled to join with the ACC/SEC Leadership Council  in sponsoring this blood drive.

The school having the largest number of donors (and/or volunteers) participate 
will take home the event trophy.  Stop by and give blood between 12pm and 6pm.

Interior Design Presentation

Decorator Dedere Carver with INTERIORS by Decorating Den will be our guest.  Their motto is “make the world beautiful one room at a time”. Dedere will share current trends and designs, and   how to create great rooms with “before and after” pictures. There will be drawings for door prizes and more.

Jewelry:  Hands on Instruction

Instructor:  Barbara Bays
Mondays, August 11 and September 15 from 1:00-3:00.  
Learn the latest beading techniques and jewelry making tips. Each session you will complete a specific project.  
In August, learn to knot and place beads in a creative Illusion Necklace design that is fun to wear or give as a gift.  Necklace sample will be on display near the from desk. 
Cost includes supplies: $16 for members.  $25 for non-members. 
Limited seating available.  Reservations required by Friday, August 8.
